Alizée Jacotey was born on Corsica’s island as the daughter of a computer scientist and a businesswoman. Together with her younger brother Johann, she grew up in Ajaccio, her hometown. Initially, the talented artist was able to record successes in her profile not because of her singing voice, but because of her talent for drawing: At the age of 11, Alizée won a painting competition, so that her work of art was painted on an aircraft of the airline “AOM Frech Airlines”. Quite apart from the fact that the plane was named after her. Simultaneously, Alizée also received lessons in various dance styles and attended drama and dance school.
In 1999 Alizée decided to take part in the talent show “Graines de Star”. Instead of being in the dance category as planned initially, she was taken as a singer and won the show a total of two times. Then Alizée also took part in casting, in which a singer for the song “Moi Lolita” was wanted. The producer Laurent Boutonnat wrote the song based on the novel “Lolita” by Nabokov. After successful test recordings, Alizée was finally chosen to sing the song. In 2000 it became a hit not only in France but also in Great Britain and Germany. Her debut album “Gourmandises” also sold very well and was awarded double platinum status.
The singer’s following albums did not sell as well as her debut album. Nevertheless, she continues to make music, and in 2010 her fifth album, “Une enfant du siècle,” will be released. A little more than six months after Alizée met the singer Jérémy Châtelain on the TV show “Eurobest” in 2003, the two married in Las Vegas. Two years later, their daughter Annaly was born.
